Fulton Bank and Admiral Hotel’s SBA loan event

On October 25, 2011, Senator Chris Coons joined regional representatives from the Small Business Administration, the local and state Chambers of Commerce, and local and state politicians in congratulating Chad and Elyse Moore, the owners of the Admiral Hotel, for being the first business in Delaware to be approved for a SBA commercial refinancing loan.

Vist to NRG Energy

On October 25, 2011, Senator Coons visited NRG Energy’s Dagsboro facility. NRG is a leading green energy producer in the United States investing in clean energy projects, include: onshore and offshore wind power, solar-thermal, photo voltaic, and distributed solar power facilities, and re-powering of some of their traditional coal plants with biomass.

10/16/11 DEANG 166th Airlift Wing Welcome Home Ceremony

On October 16, 2011, Senator Chris Coons attended a Welcome Home Ceremony for the members of the 166th Airlift Wing (166th AW) of the Delaware Air National Guard at the New Castle County Air Base. Most of the approximately 240 Airman of the 166th AW were deployed to Bagram Air Base in March.

Alliance to Save Energy

On October 4, 2011, Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.), a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, delivered keynote remarks at a conference on alternative energy options in Washington. Hosted by the Alliance to Save Energy, the event explored current and future energy efficiency policies pertaining to energy security, innovation, and jobs.

Senator Coons and Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County teamed up to host a job-search skills workshop in Wilmington.

Sussex County Job Fair

A job fair hosted by U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and U.S. Representative John Carney drew more than 1,600 job seekers to meet with more than 55 employers at Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown on September 26, 2011.

Delaware Veterans Visit DC – September 2011

On September 15, 2011, Senator Chris Coons had the pleasure of welcoming more than 150 Delaware veterans to Washington, DC, during the veterans’ stop at the World War II and Korean War memorials on Thursday. During his visit, Chris expressed his gratitude for Delawareans’ service, sacrifice, and commitment to our country. Following his welcome, a small group of veterans were asked to assist in the placing of a wreath at the Delaware Pillar of the World War II Memorial, while members of the Delaware State Police played the bagpipes and bugle.

Bipartisan Oceans Caucus

On September 13, 2011, Senator Chris Coons joined a bipartisan group of Senators to participate in a press conference to announce the Senate Oceans Caucus, which took place in U.S. Capitol, Washington, DC. The Oceans Caucus will work to increase awareness and find common ground in responding to issues facing the oceans and coasts, which support millions of jobs, generate energy, bring in tourism, and host recreation. Delawareans, did you know our beach tourism contributes over $665,000,000 to the state’s economy each year?

Touring Fisker Automotive Dealership

On September 12, 2011, Senator Coons toured the Fisker Automotive Dealership expressing his interest in Fisker’s Delaware production operation and the positive impact it will have on Delaware’s economy and the environment. During the visit, Chris test drove Fisker’s new plug-in hybrid luxury vehicle, the Karma.

Congressional September 11th Remembrance Ceremony

On September 12, 2011, Senator Coons honored the tenth anniversary of September 11th by attending the Congressional Remembrance Ceremony to pay tribute to the thousands of Americans whose lives were lost on that tragic day. The Remembrance Ceremony took place on the East Front Steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC.
