WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) released the following statement Tuesday evening after the Senate failed to invoke cloture on the American Jobs Act:

“There should be no higher priority for this Congress than creating jobs, so the outcome of tonight’s vote is certainly disappointing. I voted for the American Jobs Act because it would have helped our neighbors who are looking for work and boosted our nation's economic recovery. It’s frustrating to me that when I head home tonight, it will be after another day of this Congress failing to take decisive action on America’s jobs crisis. While I welcome plans to break up the legislation into smaller pieces for individual votes, it is critical that those votes happen urgently. The millions of Americans looking for work simply cannot afford for Congress to continue to waste time like this.”
