WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons (both D-Del.) applauded unanimous Senate passage of their bipartisan resolution recognizing February 2024 as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month. The resolution was also led by Senators Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Todd Young (R-Ind.), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), and Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Co-Chairs of the Senate CTE Caucus.
“Career and technical educational programs are powering our nation into the future, providing the next generation with the skills to thrive in high-demand jobs,” said Senator Carper. “More than 11 million students nationwide – and nearly 50,000 in Delaware – are enrolled in CTE programs, and I’m proud to join my colleagues in recognizing February as Career and Technical Education Month to celebrate the important work of these programs.”
“I’m thrilled that the Senate unanimously passed this bipartisan resolution to raise further attention to career and technical education programs,” said Senator Coons, member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. “Delaware small businesses are hungry to hire workers with specialized skills, and career and technical education programs are critical to training the next generation of workers. I am proud to see such broad, bipartisan support for CTE programs and will continue working to ensure Delawareans can make the most of their careers and get access to the opportunities they deserve.”
