WILMINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) released the following statement after Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) announced that he will retire at the end of his term.

“It has been a privilege to serve in the United States Senate with Orrin Hatch, a man who has spent decades honorably serving this country and his home state of Utah.  I’ve been grateful to work across the aisle with Senator Hatch on a variety of issues, from working to protect American trade secrets and data privacy to supporting the U.S. Marshals Service.  In particular, I’m very proud that we were able to pass our joint legislation, the Defend Trade Secrets Act, into law in 2016.  Annie and I wish Senator Hatch and his family all the best and congratulate him on an historic career in the Senate."
