WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) released the following statement to honor the United States Marine Corps’ 240th birthday.
“On November 10, 1775 in Philadelphia's Tun Tavern, the world's greatest fighting force was born,” said Senator Coons. “Since that day, Marines have fought bravely in every clime and place. Today, they continue to serve with honor, courage, and commitment in Afghanistan, Iraq, and on the front lines of our country's war against Islamic extremists. When our nation needs them, the brave men and women of the Corps are first to fight. There is no better friend and no worse enemy than a United States Marine. It is my pleasure to honor their valor by saying happy 240th birthday, Marines. Semper fidelis! Oorah!”
