Here are Sen. Coons’ honorary virtual guests at President Biden’s State of the Union address: Paul Calistro, Governor’s Commission on Community and Volunteer Service and Executive Director at West End Neighborhood House in Wilmington, Del. West End Neighborhood House has continued growing its housing and anti-poverty proposals, including partnering with the State of Delaware on its pandemic housing assistance program. Paul is also a recipient of the 2020 America’s Service Commissions’ “Outstanding Commissioner” award. Father Stephen Hutnick, Head of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Wilmington, Del. Father Hutnick has opened his doors to holding a prayer service for Ukraine and stay intimately involved in supporting Ukrainian-Americans impacted by the ongoing war with Russia. Ulana Mazurkevich, a Ukrainian-American activist and president of the Ukrainian Human Rights Committee. Anastasia Jackson, Owner of Cookie’s Paper Petals in Milford, Del. Since 2020, Anastasia has owned and operated a small business that sells unique, hand-crafted paper flowers online and in store, and holds community crafting events. Senator Coons visited Anastasia November 2020 to talk about small business loans and COVID-19 pandemic relief. Dr. Evelyn Edney, Principal at Early College High School at Delaware State University in Dover, Del. Dr. Edney was named the Delaware Principal of the Year for 2021 and is currently serving on the National Association of Secondary School Principal Board.
