Monday, March 23 at 1 p.m. – The Senator will attend Runway 1-19 groundbreaking ceremony at the Dover Air Force Base. This project will completely replace the existing 9,600 foot long, 150 foot wide 69 year-old runway to meet the requirements for modified heavy strength runway pavement. Wednesday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. – The Senator will attend a joint meeting of Congress for remarks delivered by His Excellency Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. President Ghani’s address will offer him an opportunity to outline his version for the future of Afghanistan and the U.S.-Afghanistan bilateral relationship. President Ghani is expected to thank the United States, U.S. service members, and diplomats for their efforts to bring about peace and security in Afghanistan. Saturday, March 28 at 12 p.m. – The Senator will deliver brief remarks at the Delaware Wing Civil Air Patrol annual Conference and Banquet. The volunteers of CAP perform three key missions: emergency services, which includes search and rescue (by air and ground) and disaster relief operations, aerospace education for youth and the general public and cadet programs for teenage youth ages 12-21. The Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.
