Sen. Coons recognized by Arthritis Foundation with Congressional Arthritis Champion Award

Today Sen. Coons was presented with the Congressional Arthritis Champion Award by the Arthritis Foundation for showing outstanding leadership on behalf of people with arthritis through his dedication to protecting them from high out-of-pocket costs, by supporting arthritis research at the National Institutes of Health, and by joining the Arthritis Caucus.

Sen. Coons was presented with a plaque by Dr. Randeep Kahlon, orthopedic surgeon, First State Orthopedics and Carol Reilly, representatives of the Arthritis Foundation Representatives.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition from the Arthritis Foundation,” said Sen. Coons. “Knowing how many people suffer from this disease, it’s important to continue to support the outstanding research the foundation conducts everyday in search of a cure.”

The Arthritis Foundation is the nation’s leading organization committed to the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases affecting more than 50 million Americans, including 300,000 children.

Delaware is part of the Arthritis Foundation Mid Atlantic Region, which serves 5.7 million people with arthritis and related diseases across 5 states and the District of Columbia. Through information, events, research grants, advocacy activities and other vital programs and services, they are raising awareness and funds to help reduce the unacceptable pain, disability and other burdens of this serious health epidemic.
