Tuesday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. – The Senator will visit ITWorks joined with members of Delaware’s finance community. Sen. Coons will bring members of the banking community, including representatives from Barclays, CapitalOne and JPMorgan Chase, who have about 1,000 IT jobs to fill locally. ITWorks is a free 16-week technology training program for unemployed and underemployed urban young adults, ages 18 to 26, which prepares them for an entry-level IT job and provides them with a pathway to a career in technology. 625 North Orange Street. Wednesday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m. — The Senator will attend the delegation grants fair hosted by Sens. Carper, Coons and Rep. Carney at Delaware State University’s Dover campus. The free event is designed to help Delawareans better understand the process of finding and securing grant opportunities. Wednesday, April 1 at 3 p.m. – The Senator will meet with Dean Nancy Targett at the University of Delaware’s Lewes Campus to gain a better understanding of the school’s recent research with underwater drones. Currently, Dean Targett leads the University of Delaware’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment. Effective July 1st, Dean Targett will serve as interim president of the University of Delaware following current president Patrick Harker’s departure from the university.
