WASHINGTON – Immediately following the announcement that U.S. Special Operation forces will be deployed to Syria to advise and assist rebel forces combatting ISIS, U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) joined MSNBC to discuss the new development and U.S. policy in Syria and the Middle East.

Excerpts from the interview beow:

“This is a moment where it is more important than ever for the administration to continue to engage closely with Congress. We haven’t authorized this war that is more than a year old."

“It is a challenge in this very sharply divided, very partisan Congress to come together to authorize the use of force, but I think we need to, and I think today’s announcement makes that more important than ever.”
