Statement from Senator Coons on the passing of Rev. Maurice Moyer

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) released the following statement Tuesday on the passing of Wilmington civil rights leader, the Rev. Maurice J. Moyer.

“I was saddened to learn of the passing of my friend, the Rev. Maurice Moyer. Rev. Moyer was an important part of our community for generations — an accomplished, centered leader on equality, housing, and peace. Like it did so many Delawareans, Rev. Moyer’s passion for justice inspired me. He was a true icon — a good, decent, and kind man who led with a humility that stood in sharp contrast with the high esteem with which I, and the community, held him. We will miss him.”
