WILMINGTON, Del. – U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.), chair of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs, issued the following statement Tuesday on the death of Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawai.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Prime Minister Meles’ family and the Ethiopian people during this difficult time. Prime Minister Meles was an important partner of the United States who demonstrated leadership in promoting shared regional security, food security, and development goals. I look forward to working in partnership with the future leaders of Ethiopia to enhance regional security and promote democracy, good governance, human rights, and economic growth.”
