Statement by Senator Coons on the Passage of New START

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Coons today issued the following statement in response to the Senate’s passage of New START:

"I was proud to vote today in support of ratification of New START," Senator Coons said. "I applaud the Senate for approving this critical security measure."

"This vote reinforces the wide consensus among national security and military leaders, as well as the American people, that New START is a pressing security matter of the highest order. New START will make America stronger and more secure by building on 30 years of U.S. global leadership on nuclear arms control and reduction.  The 111^th Congress has come to an end with the Senate fulfilling this critical national security obligation to the American people.”
