On October 30, 2011, Senator Chris Coons attended the Diwali Festival of Lights Celebration at the BAPS Temple in New Castle, Delaware. Diwali, commonly known as the Festival of lights, symbolizes the start of a new year according to the Hindu calendar.
The Senator was joined at the festival by Governor Markell, Congressman Carney, and United States Attorney Charles Oberley, III.
